Paul Westgate BSc (Hons), MRSPH
Paul is an Applied Biology graduate who started his Pest Control career at Zeneca Crop Protection in 2001, where he worked conducting field trials of novel pesticides on a variety of crops.
In 2002, after a year exploring the world, he began his ‘urban’ Pest Control career, initially as a Service Technician with a National Servicing Company before taking up a position as Field Biologist with Rentokil. Paul carried out this role successfully for a number of years alongside business related roles within Rentokil (Customer Support and Business Development Manager for the Maidstone branch.)
In 2006 Paul assisted on a field based research program in The Amazon Rainforest surveying for frogs and other terrestrial wildlife as part of a biodiversity study in North East Ecuador.
On his return to the UK Paul joined Rokill Pest Control, initially as a Field Biologist before being promoted in 2007 to the role of Senior Biologist.
In 2010 Paul returned to Rentokil to undertake the position of Technical Account Manager for the national Tesco account. Due to family and travel commitments Paul returned to Rokill to undertake a more localised role as a Regional Technical Account Manager for Sainsbury.
Along with his academic qualifications, Paul has passed, in 2007 the British Pest Control Association Diploma Part II examination for which he was additionally awarded the Charles Keeble Award for achieving the highest mark nationally. Paul is level 3 Food safety supervision for manufacturing accredited and holds the SPA Food and Drink Safety passport.
Paul is committed to on-going training and is a BASIS approved trainer for the delivery of Safe use of aluminium phosphide and National Storekeeper qualifications. Paul holds a level III HABC Award in Education & Training (QCF) and is an RSPH Assessor for the Level II Safe use of Aluminium Phosphide. Paul Regularly runs training courses for both BPCA and BASIS amongst others
Paul is the lead contact for the companies Health & Safety being a BASIS appointed storekeeper and holder of IOSH working safely in Pest control certification. In addition he holds National Test Proficiency Test Council (NPTC) certification for competence in the use of pesticides PA1 & PA6
In 2016 Paul attained his Certified Field Biologist award passing the examination with a distinction.
Above all Paul is passionate about Professional Pest Control and its role in safeguarding not only public health but the environment.
Outside of work Paul enjoys travelling, cricket and football when he is not busy with his family.

Matt has worked in the Pest Control industry since 2006. Since his introduction to Pest Control Matt has developed his skills through experience and application. In 2010 Matt became involved in the on site training of new technicians.
During his time in the industry Matt has provided high level service to a wide range of small and large companies throughout Sussex and beyond. He is committed to providing exceptional customer support and has been described as “professional and really helpful, making a quite stressful situation much easier to deal with”
He joined Westgate Pest Control in June 2015. Matt holds RSPH Level II and is a certified user of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP’s). He is BASIS Prompt CPD registered and like all members of staff holds an enhanced disclosure.
Matt is a dedicated and committed Pest Controller who enjoys a challenge and is prepared to apply his skills to ensure customer satisfaction. Matt is our lead Bird proofing installer and has worked on numerous buildings ranging from domestic properties, commercial units and even the odd cathedral and listed building or two.
Football is Matts main hobby. He is currently player manager of local football side Portslade athletic reserves and still enjoys everything to do with football even though he is a long suffering Aston Villa fan !

Marc has worked in the Pest Control industry for 8 years, he is a committed and caring member of the team.
Marc joined Westgate Pest Control in June 2016 having previously worked for a multinational company, Marc holds RSPH Level II and is CPD registered. Like all members of staff Marc holds an enhanced disclosure. Marc is the companies specialist Aluminium Phosphide applicator and holds the RSPH Level II in the safe use of Aluminium Phosphide for vertebrate control
Marc has a fantastic reputation with his clients who find his enthusiastic, thorough and calming manner reassuring. One food auditor recently commented that he “is the best pest controller she had ever met in her 14 year career”
Outside of work Marc’s interests are varied but his love of retro cars, (he owns a Morris minor and a fiat panda) and old audio equipment keep him busy.

Lee started his pest control career in the glasshouse industry back in the early 90’s at one of the largest glasshouses in Sussex. As one of the technical Management team Lee’s roles included active monitoring and control of glasshouse pests including Thrips, aphids and mites using a variety of methods including biological control. Lee was also involved in the audit compliance of the site and has first hand experience working to achieve many third party audit standards including M&S, BRC and Tesco manufacturing.
Lee moved into urban pest control in 2000 and has gained valuable experiences having worked for a national provider servicing both small and large accounts. Lee is a L3 BPCA Accredited Technician alongside his RSPH level II. Lee also holds plant protection pesticide application certifications PA1 and PA6. Lee is a well respected pest controlled and was extensively involved in the training of new recruits in his previous role, having undertaken train the trainer instruction courses.
Outside of work Lee enjoys music, and has played lead guitar and vocals for a local band.
“It’s the small pests that interest me, anything that needs a microscope. I’m also interested in biological control, I think this has enormous benefits as part of an integrated pest management plan”
Mark has worked in the Pest Control industry for nearly 20 years and is the company lead specialist on wood boring beetles and the companies Senior Service Technician.
Mark joined Westgate Pest Control in December 2016 having previously worked for Sussex Pest Control,Mark holds RSPH Level II and is CPD registered. Like all members of staff Mark holds an enhanced disclosure.
From December 2017 to July 2018 Mark along with his family have taken a well earned sabbatical and are spending some time in South East Asia. We look forward to welcoming Mark back to Westgate Pest Control in August 2018
